Vallespinoso de Aguilar, Palencia
Church of Santa Cecilia
The first documentary reference to the church of Santa Cecilia is from a census by the diocese of Palencia in the fourteenth century, but the style of the building and its sculpture dates it to the twelfth century. It is a simple, single nave structure perched dramatically on a rock outcropping. Its south portal is decorated with figural capitals and carved panels extending past the portal proper.
